Pastors - Directors - Administration

Sharon Van Slyke, Director of Mom's Morning Out and Nursery

Sharon Van SlykeBalancing two major areas, Sharon has served in the Nursery area since 1985 by recruiting, training and scheduling all rotating staff for the infant and toddler rooms, overseeing nursery supervisors, and providing general care and nurturing of children while sharing God's love for them.
For the other area, Moms' Morning Out, she hires, trains, and oversees 18 paid staff, substitute staff, and parent co-op help. Sharon also writes curriculum for children 2 - 4 years of age, conducts bi-monthly staff devotions, along with other responsibilities.

Raised 90 miles north of Spokane, she still remembers "gripping the back of the chair until my knuckles were white, desperately needing to choose Christ, but not wanting to walk down in front of everyone." The Holy Spirit won that tug-of-war and she became part of the family of God at the age of eleven.

She and her husband started attending Lake in 1983 and they have four "great daughters."

Miriam Lacy, Director of Women's Ministries

Miriam LacyMiriam Lacy was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She immigrated to the United States in 1965, growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area as the only child of Dr. and Mrs. Gabriel Otero.
Being so far away from extended family, the idea of having a friend for life seemed wonderful. So at the age of seven, "I asked Jesus Christ to be my friend, the Lord of my life, and the Savior of my sins." Believing God's plan for her was to become a physician, she acquired a BS in Zoology, with an emphasis in microbiology, from the University of California, Davis.

In 1979, while on a mission's trip to Mexico, she met Daniel. Shortly after, he was enrolled at Western Conservative Baptist Seminary and she was working for the VA Hospital and Oregon Health Science University in Portland, Oregon. They were married in 1984 and are parents of three beloved daughters.

In 1993, they began attending Lake Bible with both actively involved in ministry. Miriam began to pray that God would use her in Women's Ministries and in 1998, the call came. She served as assistant director before stepping into her current role as Director. Miriam's passion is helping women to grow in Christ along with encouraging them to serve and share Him with others.

Michele Dollar, Director of AWANA Ministry

Michele DollarAnother of the choice Californians on our staff, Michelle Dollar is a woman of great vision for the spiritual nurture of children and especially passionate about the AWANA program in particular. As our director, she oversees six clubs, involving 300-350 children and over 100 adult leaders.

A tireless worker and very effective leader, Michelle received Christ at age 5 with the help of "a wonderful, godly lady who shared Jesus with me." The difference that decision made in her life led Michelle eventually to hook up with an AWANA ministry. So convinced was she of its impact on kids, she and her husband, Mike, have worked with that program for the last 20 years. In 10 of those years she also taught pre-school at two Christian academies.

Michele and Mike have attended Lake since 1990. They have three children.
