Matthew 25:40: "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'"

The Mission of Lake is activated through Lake’s Mission Committee which is composed of members of the congregation who have a special desire to bring expression of Lake’s mission to life.  The focus of Lake Mission Committee has been to provide every member of Lake with the opportunity to serve the cause of Christ both locally and globally.

Locally...

Our mission outreach includes  partnerships with local outreach organizations  such as Good Samaritan Ministries,  Union Gospel Mission, Medical Teams International, Northwest Bible Training Center, Angel Tree Ministries and our own outreaches including AWANA, Vacation Bible School, Community Easter Egg Hunt,  and our Christmas presentation: The Journey to Bethlehem.  At present, we have one of the largest AWANA clubs in the Northwest, hosting 300 children weekly with more than 100 volunteer leaders.  While we support these ministries financially we do so only if we are personally involved with the actual conduct of the ministry.

Global...

We also love to take the light of Jesus Christ into the world whenever we see the opportunity as one in which Lake not only lends a financial helping hand but, as well, where our folk take part in the outreach.  To that end, we support International Students, Incorporated , Campus Crusade for Christ, Rio Grande Bible Institute, Motor Sports Ministries, and a mission to Ireland sponsored by the Association of Baptist World Evangelism.

Also, as example of an amalgamation of local and global support, our local International Student Incorporated representative, John Livingston, has provided us with the opportunity of serving world-wide by helping him develop an International Christian Fellowship with International Students attending college in Portland.  Too, while financially supporting both Good Samaritan Ministries of Beaverton and Medical Teams International in Tigard, we have sent short term mission teams, respectively, to Uganda, Africa, and Oaxaca, Mexico each with the intent of carrying on an active and long-term support of two local pastors and their ministries in these regions of the world.

Participation

In addition to financial assistance towards these ministries, we offer the active participation of our congregation members as we believe each member in our local church is willing, in some way, to serve along with our long-term missionaries: Brian and Susan Stubbs in Irian-Jaya in Indonesia, Bill and Michelle Brigg in Ecudor, Milton and Vicki Morocho at Rio Grande Bible Institute in Texas, and Jim and Dana Kalac who are impacting the entire globe with their work on the Jesus Film Project.
