Psalm 127:3: Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him.
Sunday mornings are an exciting time for the Nursery Department with so many little hands and feet exploring each and every corner! Their open curiosity and interest in the simpleist of things delights us and provides ample opportunities to share God's love with them in very hands-on ways.
Availabilty
The Nursery Ministry is available for use 20 minutes prior to each service time, as well as for some special events held within the church. Children are checked in at the nursery counter where parents receive numbered ID bands and asked to fill out a Parent Communication Sheet. Classroom cubbies are ready for your diaper bag and other personal items accompanying your child.
Safety and Security
Health , safety and security are our top caring priorities. The ID band is our tool not only for easy identification but also for contacting parents should your child need you. An electronic call board in the sanctuary can display the band number. We will release children only to the adult wearing the ID band. Child Information Forms are also kept on file containing your signature and driver's license number. These will be checked thoroughly should a parent or individual without an ID band ask for a child. Evacuation cribs are present in each room and staff are familiar with fire drill and emergency routines.
Our department is a well child nursery. Please keep your child with you if any of the following contagious symptoms are present: colds, coughs, fever, diarrhea, eye infection, green runny nose or unexplained rash. We will not administer medication of any kind. A 24-hour period of wellness is required before children can again be admitted into class. Toys, furniture, and equipment are sterilized each day to help your child stay as healthy as possible.
We are a nut free area as pertains to snacks served your children.
Staffing
Sunday mornings are staffed by approved adult and youth volunteers, each class with a required minimum of two staff per room. Our newborn and infant room focuses on individualized personal care while you attend a worship service or class. The toddler room, for our confident walkers, pairs free play opportunities with a simplified bible curriculum containing story time, music, art and snack. A crib room with monitor is available as needed.
Outreach
We have two active arms of outreach within the nursery ministry. First, we have a Motherhood Outreach Support Team (M.O.S.T.), whose focus centers on supporting moms of our nursery aged children. This is done through regular contact, prayer, relationship building, planned get-togethers and the availability of an upcoming Stork's Closet.
Second, equally important is our support to our great nursery volunteers through the energetic ministry of our Volunteer Appreciation Support Team. If you appreciate the hard work, patience and love these individuals show our youngest children week after week you are invited to look into becoming part of our V.A.S.T. team. You don't have to have children in this class to be a great encourager!
